Blogmas: All You Need Is Love

For the past three years, my husband and I have celebrated Christmas Eve by watching this particular show: All You Need Is Love. It’s a Dutch TV show that brings people together when they usually can’t. It’s heartwarming and probably better than any romantic comedy since this is real. The love and happiness on the people’s faces is one of the best presents one can give.

Think of families separated by oceans and continents. Parents who haven’t seen their children and grandchildren for years. Long distance relationships with the other person living in Australia or Brasil. Robert ten Brink and his team will try to bring these people to the Netherlands so they can at least be together for Christmas.

The team has excellent connections with the right people to get that visa through even when the couple can’t manage. Robert gives people the push they need to confess their feelings to a crush or to make up. If you ever see the man in the picture above, you know that he’s there to bring love to someone.

The Christmas special is three hours long and is one of the most popular programs during the season and is even watched by Dutch expats. Robert has his regular show as well and often flies to Australia with a large group to unite families. Some of those Dutch emigrants still remember him from years ago. He has been doing this show since 1992! The show has had its share of proposals and even wedding ceremonies to celebrate love.

Watch the clip below to see what this show is all about.

I love seeing the reactions of families reunited. I don’t believe there has been an episode that I didn’t cry. If you’re reading this and you have family or loved ones in the Netherlands that you haven’t seen in a long time, check out their site. They accept applications all year long for the various shows and might pick you to reunite with the one you love and miss.

What are you going to do tonight? Would you watch this kind of show? Who would you sign up for this if they had this show in your country?

The confusion on her face when she asked how far and long they would be was so funny. I was worried because the guy thought she was a rude b but he seems like a nice guy. I got teary eyed for sure. This is the perfect show for me because I’m such an emotional mess who likes to seek out reasons to cry in books and TV lol.

I think I cried five times this Christmas Eve. I’m terrible with these things. But I love it.
