#Indieapril Sale Wrap-Up

One of the big projects this year has ended: the big #indieapril sale. My expectations for this first sale were low. Maybe ten friends would join. But after posting it on Twitter, Many more authors showed interest. Eventually, we had 76 authors join in with 97 books spread out over the three genres. I never expected to have this many books. We had over a hundred books at one point but due to technical problems and unresponsiveness, a few authors dropped out.

76 authors joined with 97 books in the fantasy, science-fiction, and horror genre. The majority of the books were first in series, while about a third was either a standalone or an anthology.

I had asked the participating authors to share the sale with their friends, family, and fans. Many of them shared it on their social media and in their newsletter. Over the course of the sale, we had over two thousand visits to the site! And many of them bought books! The readership wasn’t just in the US and the UK, although about 80% of the visitors did come from those countries. It’s good to see there are also readers from other countries and people were also shopping in other stores than just Amazon.

Overall, I’d say this sale was a success. There was a huge variety of books, happy readers, and happy authors. I think the only one unhappy is the TBR. Throughout the process, I’ve noticed a few things we could improve so I hope the next event will be even better, for readers and for authors. My husband and I spent many hours working to get everything set up and working properly. Hopefully, we can reduce those hours by automating a few things. But no one but us will notice the difference. I want to write more guides for authors so they can maximise their efforts and get even more sales.

Did you buy anything during the sale? Is there an author you’d like to join in? What about genres you’d like to see? You can leave your feedback in the comments, DM me on Twitter, or send me an email at tessa [a] narrates [dot] com.

If you’re an author and would like to join in the next sale subscribe to the newsletter now so you won’t miss the signup period! If you’re a reader, you can subscribe to receive notifications when the next sale starts.
